Grapes Cake

This is a chocolate cake, iced and filled with buttercream. Here is one more cake, inspired by Ann Warren's floral cake collection!

A purple floral cake

This floral cake is a white cake, but made it into a rainbow cake by adding color to the batter. The batter was so thick, I wasn't able to get the exact pattern. But it was one colorful cake!!! Covered in buttercream cream icing, one again Ann Warren's recipe!

Chocolate Devil cookies

This is my version of chocolate devil cookies. It was so easy to make and tasted YUM!!! Was over in less than half an hour! Wished I had made more! :(

Debbie Brown's Friends Forever cake

Seven years had run by since I first met Ashok. This is kind of an anniversary cake for us! Inspired by Debbie Brown's "Friends Forever" cake. This is a Madiera Sponge cake with buttercreamm filling. Loved the teddies a lot!

Victorian Sponge Cake

A friend visited me and she was interested in how I do cakes. So this was something I made for her. Its a Victorian Sponge cake with strawberry filling, iced with whipped cream and topped with cherries. Tasted heavenly!

Cupcakes

Its been a while I tried cupcakes. Had an opportunity to do for a kid who loved cupcakes. This is a recipe that I found in Ann Warren's cupcake cafe cookbook. Topped with Ann's buttercream!

Gumpaste Peony

I got so much attracted to the peony flower and wanted to try it so badly. Bought a peony cutter and tried it out myself. Couldn't find any instruction over the net except on for Buddy's. So, I went with my guts, and to my surprise it turned out really beautiful!

SunFlower cake

Was practicing the sunflowers taught by Ann Warren on a dummy! It wasn't the best cake..but okay I guess! :)

My 6th anniversary cake

I had to take 2 classes on the day of my Anniversary! One was with Lauri from Cake Alchemy and the other was with Ann Warren. I left my battery at home and was not able to take any pic. I carried my cake carefully from Manhattan to NJ on the path trains and bus with minimal damage so I could get a picture of it!(I missed taking the final cake pic on the last class and Ashok was upset about it). I got it home safely and took a pic! This cake has sunflowers, peonies, lilies, daffodils, lily of the valley, chrysanthemum, rose, tulips and some imaginary flowers! That was my last class(1 of 3 and the 3rd was a repeat). I LOVE,LOVE, LOVE the cake that I want to boast that I am a proud student of Ann Warren from Cupcake Cafe! :)

A bright and sunny Floral cake

Unfortunately, the friend of Ashok who requested for the cake couldn't make it to office the other day! So, made another cake for her. Loved the way it came out with all the beautiful colors. It's a chocolate vanilla swirl cake with vanilla buttercream frosting!

Blue floral cake - a trial at home

A friend of my husband requested for a cake of mine! Tried out Ann's buttercream recipe and a vanilla cake! Took inspiration from one of her cakes. It's not as great as her's, but still I love mine! :)

Class with Ann Warren of Cupcake Café

I had this wonderful opportunity to have class with Ann Warren from Cupcake Café! She taught her famous Floral Cakes! She has over 20 years of experience and it was so nice of her to share it with others! Her cupcakes and buttercream taste out of the world. She gave loads of buttercream to try out! Here is my first floral cake!

Fondant class

Took a class with Isabelle Sanchez about how to make fondant and ribbon flowers. She gave her recipe which was awesome. Her fondant was satin smooth, so flexible and great to work with. Not only that, it tasted great too. Even a store bought one fondant couldn't beat her's! I was lazy to finish the cake at class. So, I completed mine at home. The rose is totally hand-made. Didn't wait for a day to dry the bud and all.. Just did it in a go!

My (not so great) Gumpaste Mermaid

I made a gum paste mermaid out of curiosity! She is not a beautiful mermaid. But i think she is okay! ;) I made it on Friday and 2 days later, she is one eyed and bald. My son, poked her eye and ripped her hair! Hmmmmm.....

Peach cobbler

Went Berry picking to a nearby farm and got some fresh berries and ripe peaches. Had great fun in the hot sun! Brought home lot of pears! So tried peach cobbler , Paula Deen's recipe. Never could go wrong with Paula Deen's recipe I guess. Yummy yummy dessert!

Another hot out of the oven picture!

Jungle Theme Cake for Gautham

1 week after Ashok's birthday is Gautham's. So, it was hectic working on 2 cakes in that short time with a naughty boy running around and grabbing all the tools n stuff!
There was a confusion whether to make a castle cake or jungle cake. Got all the stuff necessary for Castle cake, but Ashok insisted on doing jungle cake as Gautham likes animals a lot! So stared making the gumpaste animals couple of weeks earlier! Did monkey, elephant, giraffe, lion, puupy, bumlebees, ladybugs, mushrooms, dolphins, penguins, birds and small flowers. Lots of work, but it was all worth for my lil boy! He loved the cake!

About the cake, its a 2 tiered cake. Bottom tier is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Top layer is a cream cake and chocolate cake made like a checker(it was just a trial at last minute) with vanilla buttercream frosting. Both the layers covered in fondant. Thanks to Isabelle , a colleague who gave idea for the tree. The water was royal icing and rest of the figurines are all in gum paste.

Beach Theme Cake for Ashok's Bday

Updating after a long time.... I made a beach themed cake for Ashok's Birthday. Looked at few pics at cakecentral.com and decided on doing that. Since we came from Florida, Miami trip I thought that it would be a great idea. Thought of doing some tropical flavors. Ended up with a pineapple cake with Ashok's favorite cream cheese frosting.
Made sand with Graham crackers, water with piping gel. Tried to get figurine that resembles Ashok...hmmm! Wat to say! :)

Gum paste Figurine

Here is my first attempt with Gumpaste figurine. I don't think its that bad. But kinda okay!

Carrot cake topped with gumpaste daisies and gelatin butterflies

This is a super moist Carrot cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream icing. I tried the recipe from the book "Spectacular Cakes". The cake was very rich and moist. Tasted heavenly! The icing was very light and was a wonderful combination.

Topped on the cake is my gum paste Daisies, made without a cutter/veiner. It took lot of time without any cutter. But the result was beautiful! Another clos shot of my daisy..

And here are my gelatin butterflies. It can be made edible. But I used some glitter which weren't edible. So, here goes my non-edible gelatin butterflies

Here is my lil one enjoying the orange flavored lollipop!

Cake Painting

I attended class with Dianna Lopez, from TLC's Ultimate Cake Off! She is an incredible cake artist, so much fun to work with! She taught us the Cake Painting techniques.

This is a 2 tier cake. The top tier is a dummy. The bottom tier had two layers of triple chocolate fudge cake with coconut cake in the middle covered in butter cream icing! And of course Satin Ice rolled fondant on top! Dianna kept few of her cakes to show us the techniques she used. I tried to implement everything and made bit of a mess! However the cake doesn't look so bad.

Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

This is a Red Velvet cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. This is a recipe of Paula Deen from food network pages. Who could handle butter n cheese better than Paula Deen>!! The cake was yummy! So light! Made a few cupcakes and there was batter left. So did the cake as well. Took it to my aunt's place! Everyone loved it. My cousin finished most of it! At last minute I added couple of lilies. Couldn't even find time to put some stamens! :)

Wilton Course 3 Final Cake

Here is my Course 3 Final Tiered cake. Had to do lots of roses n buds...Took me quite a while with a kid around who wants to eat the roses! The top tier is a double layer chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream icing and the bottom tier is a double layer carrot cake with buttercream icing, Covered with Satin Ice Rolled Fondant. The Fondant was tasting way better than the wilton's. This ivory wedding cake became my birthday cake and this is so far the biggest cake I had for my birthday! :)
